About

Hello,

Firstly, this is a personal blog, online journal and ‘learning tool’ primarily for myself. I do not claim to speak for or on behalf of anyone other than myself. In fact I don’t, it is all my own opinion – handle it with care! Sorry, but that needed to be said.

Hello and welcome, I’m Antony, currently a brother in first profession with the Society of Saint Francis – an Anglican Franciscan Friar. For the past 20 or so years, I have practiced as an Enrolled Nurse, Massage Therapist, Sexological Bodyworker and Itinerant Bicycle traveller. While I have surrendered my registration as a Nurse, I remain passionate about Somatic Bodywork and how this can interface with Spirituality. Also, I am a very keen to explore how I can use cycling as a vehicle for personal challenge, exploration and expedition (how would you define a pilgrimage). Possibly: cycling modelled as one of the ‘new deserts’ for self exploration and discovery.

Over time I hope to be able to weave these, at times conflicting, passions into an informative blog. Presenting my personal takes on these and other associated parts of my life and experience: Prayer and Contemplation; Living in Community; Somatic Touch; Ecology and Wellbeing; Pilgrimage, Challenge and Expedition. All from the perspective of someone who is currently living with Celibacy, relative Poverty in Obedience to a 800 year old rule of Life in an ever more rapidly changing modern consumer driven society.

Thanks for visiting,

Antony.
